Practice Active Listening

Submitted by Jennifer Bachner

Make sure to keep the lines of communication open with your children. Especially teenagers.

If they have you or someone else to confide in, it creates an outlet for the good and bad conversations to happen.

If possible, make an agreement with the person your child decides to confide in that they will keep the conversations confident unless there is danger involved.

Most of the time kids just need to know that they have someone who cares enough to listen to them without judgement.

Can you think of ways to actively listen to teens?
