Take Interest In What They Like

Show interest in the things they like. Watch a cartoon with your child. My kids love it when I take a break from my busy evening routine and watch a cartoon with them. It helps them see that even though I’m busy with grown-up stuff- their stuff matters too.

All those Spongebob episodes came in handy this year when I had to help my 11 year practice doing story plot diagrams for his Language Arts test. We dissected episodes telling the setting, rising actions, climax, falling actions and resolution of every episode we could remember. When we were finished even my 7 year old could do it. It was the most fun we ever had studying for a test.
